Oh Happy Day!! Isn’t this just a delightful, happy.. occasion as we gather here this morning to give Thanks for all that the Lord has given us.. in the person and priesthood of Fr. Ted.!! And… to try to have him know how much he means to us,/ not only here at church, but in our lives!

So, why do bad things happen to good people? Why do people who seem to be compassionate, and loving, and deeply faithful end up with tragedy in their lives? Is it because they have sinned in some way and don’t know it … and God is angry with them? Could it be that God just doesn’t care, or maybe is as all powerful as we believe God to be? Maybe it is because we don’t pray the right words in the correct manner.

The utter devastation in the Florida Panhandle from Hurricane Michael is hard to comprehend. Where houses once stood there is nothing but some pilings in the ground, or a slab of concrete. Everything is gone. In Mexico City the mayor estimated that 95% of the structures in his town were destroyed. And we are just now hearing of the number of deaths of those who had not evacuated and were caught in the collapse of the shelters around them.
