Black History Month Vespers on Sunday, February 17 at 5:30 pm is the next Jazz Vespers at St. Cyprian’s, and a powerful pair will be there to entertain and educate. Mama Blue returns with her signature style and bluesy-jazzy-soul with backup by her jazz quintet. Folio Weekly readers recently voted Mama Blue Best Female Vocalist in Jacksonville. Her visits to St. Cyprian’s are always a special occasion. The history of the civil rights movement in St. Augustine will be the subject of David Nolan’s talk. Nolan is a writer and historian who was recently named One of “Ten Who Make a Difference” in St. Augustine. Called a “national treasure,” Nolan helped to shine a light on the city’s black history. He is a popular speaker who’s been welcomed at St. Cyprian’s for previous Black History Month programs.
