Dr. Makaziwe Mandela
The July 19 launch ceremony for Operation New Hope’s R4W site in St. Augustine attracted a daughter and granddaughter of former South African President Nelson Mandela. Compassionate St. Augustine is partnering with other organizations on this nationally acclaimed program, which every year will give a second chance to between 24 and 48 formerly incarcerated individuals returning to St. Johns County. Advocate Dr. Makaziwe Mandela spoke about unity as a key to social justice.
