This past February Fr. Ted asked Mary Beth Martin and me to co-chair St. Cyprian’s Altar Guild. Chris Mason has been leading the group for 12 years, assisted at different times by Annette Capella, Maggie Gordy, Michelle Park, Nita Storey, Jody Stowers, Nell Toensmann, Cheryl Thomas, Jane Warriner, and Mary Lou Woods. Current members are Barbara Colee, Anita McDonough, Judy Padgett, and Jane Schwab, besides Chris, Mary Beth, and myself. Before Lent the group met to go over responsibilities (posted in the Sacristy.) We came together again on Maundy Thursday to clean and polish the altar and all vessels used for Holy Eucharist. We agreed to clean and polish before Christmas as well. Also confirmed were the responsibilities of the co-chairs, which will include planning a gathering of members for lunch or coffee during the year. |
What Does the Altar Guild Do? Prayerfully prepare the altar for Holy Eucharist each week, including feasts like Christmas and Easter.

The Centering Prayer group last week discussed Richard Rohr's statement:
"We have found the enemy and it is us. But only when we get ourselves out of the way can we judge anyone else and take on the powers that be with righteous indignation." How would you respond to the above statement? Think about it! "Healthy religion is always about love. All we can do is get out of the way." (Everything Belongs) The next meeting of the group is on 6/13 at 4:30 pm. |
